How do I apply for a National Insurance number?

Information regarding how to apply for a National Insurance number can be found here.

Please note that it is the individual (not the employer) who requires to apply directly for a National Insurance Number using the National Insurance Application Line (tel 0800 141 2075) during the hours of 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday. They will take your details and arrange an interview at a local Jobcentre Plus office. Alternatively, Non-EU applicants may be sent a form to complete by post.

You must be able to provide: Full Name, Address and Contact Telephone Number, and must reside within the UK.

If you are enquiring about an application that has already been submitted, you can call 0800 141 2079 for an update.

Overseas Doctors who require Tier 2 Visas to come into the UK will automatically be given a NI Number which will be detailed on the back of their BRP (Biometric Residence Permit).
