Annual Leave

Existing arrangements for management of VDP annual leave remains the same and following existing principles i.e. the VDP must discuss the request with the Trainer (acting on delegated responsibility from NES). Requests for specific dates should normally be accepted and agreed and should only be refused if there are justifiable service/staffing reasons for doing so. The VDP will be expected to be flexible in such circumstances. In instances where there is a disagreement between the VDP and the Trainer, this shall be managed between the two parties, as per the current arrangements, and in partnership with NES if required. If the situation escalates into a formal dispute or grievance, NHS Scotland grievance policy would be followed, with the matter progressed between the VDP, trainer and NES.
