Once for Scotland Policies coming 1st March 2020
26 February 2020
From 1 March 2020, staff in NES and across NHS Scotland are to benefit from a comprehensive set of refreshed Workforce policies. This means that no matter which Board you are in, the policies will be the same, and they will be easily accessible on any device at any time.
Until now, Boards have operated with different local policies based on the minimum standards outlined in the national ‘PIN’ policies and enhanced at local level. This has meant that staff working across different Boards have been subject to different approaches and personal experience.
The existing PIN guidelines for the policies in this first phase, will be replaced by ‘Once for Scotland’ Workforce policies which will promote NHS Scotland as a modern, exemplar employer; showcasing our core values, and promoting consistent employment policy and practice that supports the implementation of the Staff Governance Standard and effective recruitment and retention.
The intention is for the policies to be accessible, simplified and person-centred, and applied consistently across the NHS in Scotland, reflecting NHS Scotland’s values, - ensuring that all staff are treated fairly and equally.
Together, these will set the standard for employment practice across all NHS Boards and will help deliver the highest quality healthcare services.
The first policies to be published are as follows. More will be added as they are developed.
- Bullying and Harassment
- Workforce Policies Investigation Process
The policies will be accessible on the Turas Hub, together with supporting information and through a new national website, which will be live from 1 March: https://workforce.nhs.scot/. For any queries regarding the above, please contact HR through the Workforce Service Desk or your trade union representative.
