Foundation Year 1 Mandatory Induction
NHS Boards are required to provide a minimum mandatory Induction/Shadowing period, for Foundation Year 1 trainees, which should be no less than 4 days in accordance with http://www.sehd.scot.nhs.uk/dl/DL(2016)12.pdf
However, where your Placement Board offers alternative Induction/Shadowing arrangements, you will be notified by the Placement Board of these in advance of commencement.
The following is also important to note:
- You will receive FY1 basic salary with no payment of a Banding Supplement for the duration of any period deemed as Mandatory Induction/Shadowing period by the Placement Board.
- When you commence your full Foundation duties, you will receive FY1 Basic Salary, plus a Banding Supplement (as appropriate)
Please ensure, when you are subsequently notified by your Placement Board (or associated Post-Graduate team) of the reporting instructions for Shadowing/Induction, the date provided in that communication is the date on which you report to your placement Board.
If you have any questions relating to your offer or Induction, when received, please refer to the FAQ’s in the first instance or contact the appropriate Placement Board contact officer(s)/Post-Graduate Team.
