How can I apply for status under the EU Settlement Scheme during the public test phase?
If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021. If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status. All information regarding this can be found on the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families
Except in a few cases, you need to apply if:
- you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen
- you’re not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, but your family member is
British citizens cannot apply. Irish citizens do not need to apply but may do so if they wish.
The deadline for applying will be 30 June 2021, or 31 December 2020 if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.
You can apply using any device, for example, a laptop, Android device or iPhone. The Settlement Scheme is free to apply to. If you paid a fee when you applied to the EU Settlement Scheme during the test phase, you can apply to get a refund.
